Best Practices Breakfast
The EXPO will kick off with a lively Best Practices Breakfast from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Treat yourself to this full-course breakfast, lively networking opportunity, and captivating presentations. Everyone is welcome to attend, but this event is primarily intended to celebrate and encourage Manitoba employers. This year’s featured speaker is Randy Lewis from Walgreens who, from a corporate perspective, is uniquely impassioned about the value that people with disabilities can bring to the workplace. You don’t want to miss this compelling presentation – the remarkable story about an experiment in workforce diversity that has dramatically altered this company’s hiring practices. Exhibit Hall
Opening at 10:00 AM and running until 4:00 PM, the Exhibit Hall will feature an exciting array of exhibit booths. Dozens of exhibitors will be showcasing their products, services and job/career opportunities. Companies will be there to share information on jobs and career paths in their workforces and industry. Government programs will be there to explain how they support job seekers and/or employers to make successful employment outcomes. Community organizations will be there to explain how they can assist employers in the hiring and retention of folks with disabilities. Advances in access technology will be on display. There will be an abundance of information and resources for job seekers, employers, and the community at large.

Speakers
In addition to Randy Lewis’s morning presentation, we are thrilled to be featuring two other exceptional speakers.
11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon & 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM - Shayn Anderson of Diversity Inclusion will be presenting on “Taking Pride in That Which Sets Us Apart”. In this inspirational presentation, Shayn will share his conviction that people with disabilities need to break free from the shackles of erroneous beliefs about themselves, discover the true value of their uniqueness, take responsibility for their destinies, and make their way boldly into their futures.

1:00 PM to 2:30 PM – Denise Bissonnette of Diversity World will be presenting on “Creating an Inclusive Workplace: Putting the Dream of Diversity into Practice.” Based on solid leadership principles and practical strategies drawn from experience, Denise will impart fresh ideas on how to foster the day-to-day mindset and habits that allow for, invite, and cultivate inclusiveness in our workplaces. These ideas are pertinent to hiring, interviewing, and day-to-day communications with employees from diverse groups including but not limited to employees with disabilities, newcomers to Canada and Aboriginal peoples.
Admission: $25 Fee Pre-registration recommended.
Workshops
Attendees will be able to take advantage of several free seminars throughout the day. (45 minutes in length)
